Tips for Giving Cat Treats
There's no alternative to a regular diet of high-quality cat food. Never replace meals with treats. Snacks should be a small part of their diet.
Be careful about giving them human food. It may be good for you, but it's not always good for cats. Our digestive systems and theirs aren't the same. While some foods, such as poultry, are beneficial for both of us, cats require a different combination of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Fortunately, Happy Pooch Styling & Spa has lots of tasty snacks developed especially to complete our cats diet.
Don't feed them from the table or invite begging.
Offer a range. You don't always have the same snack, so why should your cat? There are crunchy treats and semi-soft treats. There are flavors cats love such as chicken, fish, and liver. Try to find a few that your favorite feline approves.
Use treats as a reward, especially after they've shown patience while being brushed, having their nails trimmed, or taking medicine. Some people have even had great results teaching their kitties with treats!
If you have questions, ask us! Cat treat labels aren't subject to the same thoroughness as labels on normal cat food, and it's sometimes hard to tell the benefits of one treat versus another. Every cat has different needs, and we can recommend tasty and tempting snacks that are ideal for your pet.

So impressed and happy with happy pooch! My dog came home looking absolutely adorable and happy to boot with her haircut. The whole process was straightforward and so positive. Very happy to have found this place and will definitely be back.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Melissa at Happy Pooch. We adopted Oscar from the Whatcom Humane Society in September and he is very reactive to new people because he is partially blind.
I really needed to get his nails trimmed and the vet recommended Happy Pooch. I was able to make an appointment very easily. I had explained about Oscar’s reactivity so she gave us an appointment at the end of the day when there wouldn’t be a bunch of clients or dogs around.
I brought Oscar in, and as predicted, he barked at Melissa and her assistant, Madelyn. Melissa was very very patient with Oscar, giving him treats and speaking to him calmly and gently. She knew exactly how to work with him!!
She led us to a back room where it was quiet and we wouldn’t encounter any other “triggers”. She really took her time letting Oscar relax and we were eventually able to get his nails clipped with lots of treats and encouragement!
I am so grateful for Melissa. She is very experienced and very kind! We bought a punchcard and Oscar will return for regular “PETicures”!
They are always friendly and good with my little pooch, he has a lot of anxiety problems.
Happy Pooch is always making my fur baby look her best! They are timely, professional and super helpful!
Very reasonable prices, great selection of toys, treats, and food, and fantastic staff.
